Episode Title: “The Rookie”
Episode Length: 46:10
Previous Episode: “A Date With Dana”
Among modern day audio drama podcasts, the trend leans more towards serials rather than anthologies. Of the anthology audio drama shows in production right now, one of our favorites here at the Audio Drama Club is 19 Nocturne Boulevard.
Started in 2008, 19 Nocturne Boulevard is a show written, produced, and often voiced by the talented woman Julie Hoverson. Each episode will center around a plot of the strange, speculative, or supernatural.
Tonight’s episode, “The Rookie” is a morbid tale that crosses serial killers and reality televison. This story is woven in a world where the biggest stars around are the men and women who murder for a living.
“What kind of a place is it? Why it’s a residential corridor, deep in the bowels of an industrial apartment complex, in a very dark, and possibly very near, future, can’t you tell?”

Show: The Red Skelton Show
Time Period: Golden Age of Radio (1941 - 1953)
Episode Title: “Women Are Ruling the World”
Episode Length: 30:27
Genre: Humor, Variety Show
For tonight’s comedy show, the Audio Drama Club is switching things up a bit. Last week we showcased an episode of the Mel Brooks Show, a comedic sitcom. This week, we’re showcasing a comedic variety show starring a famous comedian of the time, a man by the name of Red Skelton.
Tonight’s episode, is centered on the 1950s perspective of women. Keep the decade in mind while listening to the show. By today’s standards, some of the jokes will sound very sexist, but as you listen, it becomes clear that even though there were very clear stereotypes about women in play during the mid 20th century as being the weaker, fairer sex, women still had a great deal of power, especially as the “real” head of household in a married family.
We hope you are able to sit back and enjoy this great comedy.
